Freedom In Dance

There are many things that life and this world offer that help and inspire me. One of these things is dancing. I am not talking about going to a club and dancing to rap, hip hop, or pop, but I am talking about dancing at those random warehouse parties to good house music. I'm not sure if you have ever been, but honestly it is one of my favorite places to dance and live.

Let me briefly describe to you the beauty of these kinds of parties. When it's your first time going it seems somewhat sketchy but by the end of the night you don't want to leave because you believe you have found utopia, or so it seems. At these types of parties you can dance just by yourself, even if you came with friends. You can dance any way you want and it does not have to be scandalous. It is really in the way you dance at these events that helps you release tension and stress and let you enjoy life. In dance there is no race, gender, or drama, instead dance is a release of tension and a form of motivation.

As the parties begin, you dance with the crowd, not with your friends. It's as if, for that night, you dance with hundreds of people and everyone that is dancing is dancing to make the world a better place. Although none of this is said, there is always a Utopian personality at the majority of these parties. Soon enough, every beat of the music you hear you can feel inside your body. For me personally, as I close my eyes and feel the bass, I imagine that every beat and sound is small push forward in motivating me to what I want to achieve in life. Ask anyone who goes to warehouse parties and they will tell you that it has that personality that I just described to you. For those couple hours you are given a sense of freedom through dancing.

Each time I go, I feel as if it is a refuel of energy and motivation. While I dance the night away, I meditate and for those few moments everything becomes clear. It is clear what I have to do, what I want to do, how far I want to go, and how I want to do it. After these events, I always remember one lesson that I learned from the movie Party Monster- you make your own reality. This is one of the lessons/ theories that I try to live by. And while you lack control of some situations, you control how your life will be lived and the majority of people can help how they feel. By going to these parties I began to learn lessons from random people I would meet. Sometimes they would just talk about current events and sometimes about life and how it should be lived. For me, dancing became these lessons added with a re-energizing boost that allowed me to WANT to accomplish everything that I could. Even though it's just dancing, it has now become spiritual. When I dance, the way that I want, to AMAZING beats, it honestly makes me happy that I am alive. Although it is not the only reason, it is one of my favorite ones!

The name of my blog profile is "Celebrate and dance so free." It is a statement and lyric that I choose to live by. This lyric comes from the Daft Punk song "One More Time," one of my favorite songs. In my opinion, this line means celebrate the life you have and the way you want it- and do so by dancing! If you ever see me on the dance floor (and I'm just a normal dancer) you will notice that I smile, close my eyes and go in to a trance. It is in this trance where I know everything will be alright no matter what tribulations come in my way. To put it simply, I LOVE to dance and when I do, I dance to celebrate that I am alive and have the ability to do whatever I put my mind to.

Biking Ban

The other day I was extremely late to class as usual! Every time I am late, I always think one of two things- one: why did I pick a class that is so far, and two: I wish I could ride a bike on ring road!
I know this bothers a lot of people, especially since other UC's allow bikes and skateboards. I understand that there are non fatal casualties with pedestrians but I think that bicyclists and skateboarders should just remain on one side of ring road and pedestrians on the other. Secondly, I think it is ridiculous that you can get a ticket for riding your bike to class. Banning is one thing but ticketing is another. Yes I know that ticketing is the reinforcement for the ban but still!

Personally, I think that everyone should bring a bike or skateboard on campus and that way the campus police cannot ticket everyone. Maybe I am being ridiculous and just looking for another excuse on how it's not my fault that I am late to class. But if you think about it logically, if you can ride your bike in Irvine, in which everyone does (and I am glad that I haven't hit one), then we should be able to skate board and ride our bikes.

But I do think the unicyclist should be band. I think that that is a disaster waiting to happen !
